Asian Games 2023: India wins medals in rowing, shooting on Day 1

India has made a strong start in the Asian Games 2023 being held in China. At the time of writing, Indian players have won 4 medals in these games on Sunday, the very first day of the competition. The trio of star shooter Mehuli Ghosh, Ashi Choukse and Ramita won India its first medal. After this, the country has so far got 3 medals in rowing.

First medal in shooting

In Shooting, India won the silver medal in the women’s 10 meter air rifle team event with 1886 points. This was India’s first medal in these games. The trio of Mehuli Ghosh, Ashi Chowksey and Ramita have won this medal for India. Ramita scored 631.9, Mehuli scored 630.8 and Aashi scored 623.3. Host China won the gold medal of this event.

India gets medal in rowing

India got its second medal in rowing, where it won silver medal in men’s lightweight double sculls. Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh gave India its second medal in the Games. The Indian pair clocked 06:28:18 and stood second.

Babu Lal and Ram Lekh won the third medal

India got its third medal of the day in rowing. Babu Lal Yadav and Ram Lekh won bronze medal in Men’s Doubles Final-A. This Indian pair took a time of 6:50:41 and won bronze. Earlier, Arjun Lal and Arvind had won silver medal for India in rowing.

Another silver in rowing

India got its third medal in rowing and fourth overall, when the Indian team won silver in the men’s coxed Eight event with a time of 05:43.01. With this, India has won 3 medals in rowing.

Women’s cricket team also in the final

Indian women’s cricket team entered the final of the games. Smriti Mandhana’s team defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the semi-finals. In this way, the Indian women’s cricket team has ensured at least a silver in these games.
