Uttarakhand cabinet approves increased subsidy on solar power project, amendment in guideline

Under the Chief Minister Solar Self Employment scheme started in the Trivendra Rawat government, the guidelines have been changed to connect the youth with self-employment. The cabinet approved it, after which people will now be able to set up projects up to 200 KW. The government has also increased the subsidy on these.

Under the CM Solar Self-Employment Scheme, a target was set to set up 10,000 solar power projects in the state. Under this scheme, there was also a provision of 15 to 25 percent subsidy to the project set up. Under the scheme only projects of 20 to 25 KW could be set up.

The youth did not show enthusiasm in this, due to which only 120 projects could be implemented against the target. Now, under the amendment made by the government in the rules, subsidy will be available from 15 to 40 percent. Project plants of 50 kW, 100 kW and 200 kW will be installed in place of 20 to 25 kW.

In order to increase the enthusiasm of the youth, the government has also increased the cost of setting up solar power projects from Rs 40,000 per kW to Rs 50,000 per kW. It is believed that this will increase the interest of the youth in the Chief Minister Solar Self Employment scheme.
