Chardham Yatra 2024 gets underway

Chardham Yatra 2024 season will start with the opening of the doors of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham. Today, as per the rituals, the doors of Kedarnath Dham have opened for the devotees to offer obeisance at seven in the morning. Baba Kedar’s Panchmukhi Doli reached Kedarnath with the cheers of thousands of devotees.

By late evening yesterday, more than 16 thousand devotees had reached Kedarnath ahead of the opening of the portals on May 10. Today, after the opening of the doors of Kedarnath Dham, the doors of Yamunotri Dham will open at 10:29 am and the doors of Gangotri Dham will open at 12:25 pm. The doors of Badrinath Dham will open at 6 am on 12th May.

Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham are lavishly decorated with flowers. Kedarnath temple has been decorated with more than 20 quintals of flowers. This time devotees will go through Aastha Path. There is a provision of benches to sit on the Aastha Path. Also, a rain shelter was built to protect from rain and snowfall.

More than 22 lakh devotees have registered for Chadham Yatra 2024

So far, more than 22 lakh devotees have registered for the Chardham Yatra. Looking at the registration figures, this time also the state government is hopeful of creating a new record of devotees in Chardham Yatra 2024 season.

Possibility of change in weather

There is a possibility of change in the weather once again in Uttarakhand. Meteorologists have predicted rain in all four Dhams today. Light snowfall is also possible at some places. Whereas, there may be hailstorm with gusty winds across the state.

A yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Center for this. At the same time, Director of Meteorological Center Bikram Singh has expressed the possibility of change in the weather by May 13. He advised the pilgrims coming to Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath Dham to bring warm clothes and rain coat with them.
