Kohli’s poor run with the bat continues

Indian captain Virat Kohli continues to have poor form on the tour of New Zealand. He has not scored a century in the last 21 innings (Test, ODI and T20). Also, he could score only 204 runs in the last 10 innings of all three formats. In the first innings of the Christchurch Test against New Zealand, Kohli was dismissed for 3 runs off 15 balls. He was lbw by Tim Southee. He scored his last century in the Kolkata Test against Bangladesh in November. That is, 99 days ago. The Indian captain had then scored 136 runs.

On the current New Zealand tour, the Indian captain scored only 180 runs in 7 ODIs and T20s, including only one half-century. Kohli scored 2 runs in the first innings of the Wellington Test and 19 in the second innings. India lost the match by 10 wickets.

Flopped in T20 and ODI series as well

Kohli scored 125 runs in 4 innings of T20 and 75 in 3 ODIs against New Zealand. This is not the first time Kohli is struggling with poor form. Earlier, between February 2014 and October 2014, he could not score a century in 25 innings of all three formats. It also includes a tour of England in which he was able to score only 134 runs in 5 Tests.

Lost number-1 in Test rankings

Kohli’s poor form has also impacted his ICC Test rankings. He has been toppled from the number-1 position. Australian player Steve Smith topped the eighth time with 911 points, while Kohli has 906 points. Apart from him, Ajinkya Rahane is at number 8, Cheteshwar Pujara at number 9 and Mayank Agarwal at number 10.

Kohli could not score a century in 24 innings in 2011 too

Kohli’s poor form was seen between February 2011 and September 2011, when Kohli did not score a single century in 24 consecutive innings. Kohli has scored 70 centuries in his international career so far. He has scored 27 centuries in 84 Tests and 43 centuries in 248 ODIs.
