Ind vs NZ ODI: Shubman Gill becomes youngest batsmen to score ODI double ton

The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand (IND vs NZ 1st ODI) was played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. In this match, Team India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first.

Team India’s opener Shubman Gill proved the captain’s decision right and scored the first double century of his ODI career. Along with playing this memorable inning, Shubman Gill has broken a big record of fellow player Ishan Kishan.

Recently, in the ODI series played between India and Bangladesh, opener Ishan Kishan played a brilliant inning of 210 runs in just 131 balls. Along with playing this record innings, he became the youngest batsman to score a double century for India. But today, Shubman Gill broke this record.

In the first ODI against New Zealand, Shubman Gill played a blistering inning of 208 runs in just 149 balls at a strike rate of 139.6. During this, 19 fours and 9 sixes were seen from his bat. Due to this innings of Gill, the Indian team was able to score a huge score of 349 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs.

Fastest Indian to 1000 ODI runs

During this innings, Gill also made the record for the fastest 1000 ODI runs from India. Gill crossed the 1000-run mark in his 19th innings. He missed the world record of Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman by just one innings. Fakhar Zaman completed 1000 ODI runs in 18 innings. It has happened only 10 times in One Day International cricket that a batsman has scored 200 or more runs and out of this seven times this feat has been done by Indian batsmen.
