CBI registers FIR against former UK CM Harish Rawat
Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and former Cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat have troubled times ahead. CBI has registered an FIR against these two. Umesh Kumar, CEO of a local private news channel, has also been accused in this case. He is accused of conspiring to share ministries and transactions of crores of rupees while holding government posts. CBI has decided to register an FIR after conducting preliminary inquiry into the matter for about three and a half years.
Video of sting operation and call record between the three accused
The decision to make Harak Singh Rawat and Umesh Kumar accused is shocking. Because Umesh Kumar did the sting of Harish Rawat, involving horse trading of MLA’s, and with the same sting video, Harak Singh Rawat complained to the Governor and demanded a CBI inquiry against Harish Rawat. After a thorough investigation of the video of the sting operation and the call record between the three accused, the CBI found that Umesh Kumar had actually gone to bargain on behalf of Harak Singh Rawat instead of doing the sting operation of Harish Rawat. The alleged video of Sting is actually a video of this bargain.
The MLAs were brought from Dehradun to Gurugram hotel by chartered plane
According to the CBI FIR, on March 18, 2016, after the budget was passed in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, BJP MLAs as well as angry Congress MLAs were brought from Dehradun to Gurugram hotel in a chartered plane. After this Umesh Kumar came from Dehradun to meet Harak Singh Rawat in Gurugram hotel. Harak Singh Rawat asked Umesh Kumar to meet Harish Rawat, along with two ministries and a demand of Rs 25 crore, for the post of Deputy Chief Minister to return to the Congress. After this, Umesh Kumar’s meeting with Harish Rawat was fixed on March 23 in the lounge of Dehradun airport.
This conversation happened
A senior CBI official said that Harish Rawat initially agreed to make him a minister, but refused to give money. But Umesh Kumar pressurized to arrange 5-7 crores on his behalf. To this Harish Rawat said that Umesh Kumar should arrange all the money himself and he will refund Rs 1-2 crore after the MLAs return on March 29, but Umesh Kumar claimed to be able to arrange Rs 10 crore in Delhi himself. Giving assurance, he asked the then CM Harish Rawat to arrange Rs 5 crore. After the deal was finalized, Umesh Kumar gave information to Harak Singh Rawat and said that “More and less talk is done, okay, let me come and tell you.” After this, Umesh Kumar also talked to Harish Rawat of Harak Singh Rawat, in which Harak Singh Rawat assured to come on March 29. Umesh Kumar made a video of the entire conversation on his mobile. A senior CBI official said that the video was sent to the forensic lab in Gandhinagar for examination, in which it was found correct.
The sealed report of the preliminary inquiry into the case was submitted by the CBI to the Uttarakhand High Court, after seeing it, the court cleared the registration of the FIR.
