Japan has been the birthplace of some of the quirkiest technologies and the Dingo Rafre is the latest addition in that list. The newest invention by Kyocera called the Dingo Rafre has people talking because it is the first of its kind to be able to stand the full assault of a downright bath – intentionally exposing one’s phone to water and soap for a prolonged period of time.
Rafre features a 5″ 720p display, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB storage expandable using microSD card along with a 13MP rear camera. The Digno Rafre also has a “scratch-healing” finish to avoid damage from accidental bumps and drops, and its body is said to “recover naturally”, just like the back of recent LG smartphones.
“The company is also boasting that the display of the phone has a touch panel that when wet will continue to work,” reported Uber Gizmo.
A microSD card slot is available to expand the built-in storage up to 128GB and a 3,000mAh battery pack is embedded under a self-healing, dynamic plastic rear cover. It’s an Android, sporting the 5.1 Lollipop operating system, and enabled for 4G.
Details about its availability and price across the global markets are yet to be revealed.
