For many years ‘Bliss‘ was one of the most common wallpaper found on people’s desktops and is perhaps the most viewed image of all time.
Bedini Bugyal a relatively unknown camping site in Uttarakhand, can perhaps to a certain extent be called an Indian version of Bliss.
Bedini Bugyal (High altitude grass, meadow) is one of the finest meadow in India. Acres upon acres of meadow scooped out of lush mountain scape, a steep ridge arching up into the dusk, and above it, the enormous western flank of Trishul. One of the larger Bugyal (meadow) in Uttarakhand, Bedini is also a major way-station on the Nanda Raj Jaat Yatra, a ritual procession held every 12 years.
Bedini Bugyal at an altitude of 3,354 meters above the sea level brings the varied colors and diversified splendors of nature and is considered amongst the finest altitude of grasslands in the Garhwal mountains famous for wild high altitude flowers and herbs during the spring thaw, and thaws the splendid view of the Greater Himalayan range.
The base of Bedini Bugyal is Tharali ( 47 kms ) from Karnaprayag on the Karnaprayag – Gwaldham road drive further towards – Debal – Mundoli – Wan – Lohajung. The alternate route to Lohajung is via Almora – Gwaldam — Tharali – Debal – Mundoli – Lohajung. Then a 10 kms trek from Lohajang Pass through Wan village and lush green rhododendron and oak forest is required to reach Bedni Bugyal.
