Chenap Valley: The unknown valley of flowers in Uttarakhand

Very few people know that Uttarakhand has been blessed with not one but two valley of flowers. Located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, Chenap Valley is one of the hidden gems of Uttarakhand that only very few trekkers know about. This valley is situated at an altitude of about 13,000 feet above sea level. The Chenap Valley offers views of the peaks of Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot and Dronagiri. Chenap Valley is located about 28 kms from Joshimath city. Chenap Valley like its more famous counterpart Valley of flowers is home to a wide variety of flora.

The Valley of Flowers National Park, commonly referred to simply as the “Valley of Flowers“, is a national park in India, located in Chamoli district in the Himalayan region of the Garhwal region of the state of Uttarakhand. Nanda Devi National Park and Valley of Flowers National Park are jointly declared World Heritage Sites. The Valley of Flowers is spread over an area of ​​87.50 km. The Valley of Flowers, located in Chamoli district, was declared a national park in 1982 by the World Organization, UNESCO. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and adorned with more than 500 species of flowers, the region has become a world famous destination for horticulturists or flower lovers.

Best time to visit Chenap Valley

The best time to go on the Chenap Valley Trek is from June to September. The valley is in full bloom during this time as the snow starts melting and there is very little rain. By the end of September, flowers dry up.

Where is Chenape Valley?

Located in the Chamoli district of the Garhwal Himalayas, Chenap is a lush green valley, famous for its lakes and the flowers that bloom in the region. To reach Chenap Valley, trekkers will have to pass through grasslands dotted with wild grass and remote villages.

How to get there?

Train – The nearest rail station is Haridwar, which is 299 kms from Joshimath. From here you can easily reach Chenap Valley Chamoli Garhwal by bus or taxi.

Airport- The nearest airport is Jollygrant Airport-Dehradun. Jolly Grant Airport, which is about 20 kms from Rishikesh and 285 kms from Joshimath, and provides daily connectivity with New Delhi.
