Uttarakhand weather update: Snowfall in the mountains brings down mercury during the day

The weather patterns have changed in Uttarakhand. There was snowfall in Hemkund Sahib including Chardham on Saturday. Whereas the cold increased due to rain in the lower hilly areas. Cloud cover continued throughout the day in Doon and other plains, due to which the temperature was recorded below normal.

In the morning, there was bright sunshine in Dehradun, Mussoorie and surrounding areas. After around 12:30 PM, light clouds started appearing. The hide and seek of clouds continued till 4:30 in the evening. The coldness increased due to the cold winds from the mountains.

The maximum temperature of Doon was 22.6 degrees Celsius, one degree Celsius below normal and the minimum temperature was 6.5 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal. The maximum temperature of Pantnagar was 24.5 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, and the minimum temperature was 4.9 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.

The maximum temperature of Mukteshwar was 9.8 degrees Celsius, five degrees below normal and the minimum temperature was 0.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal. Director of Meteorological Center Bikram Singh said that the weather of the state will remain like this for the next three days.

There may be snowfall in areas at a height of more than three thousand meters and rain at isolated places in Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi districts. The weather will be dry in the plains. Yellow alert has been issued for frost in mountainous areas.
