Lok Sabha elections 2024: Campaigning for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections stopped, poling in these places

The campaign for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 ended at 6 pm on Wednesday (April 17, 2024). A statement issued by the Election Commission of India said, “The campaigning for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections ended at 3 pm in the North East, while in the rest of the country it ended at 6 pm.” Earlier in the day, all the major political parties exerted their full force on the ground through rallies, road shows and public meetings. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Nalbari in Assam during the day, where he said in a rally that it is clearly visible what the result is going to be on June 4.

In the morning, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav held a joint press conference in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to Delhi, during which they attacked BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this time, a video song was also released by the INDIA Alliance, which includes videos and photos of Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi together from the year 2017 till now.

Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi held her first road show in Saharanpur. She traveled 1.5 km in about 25 minutes and said – I am saying everywhere that this election should be for the people. It should be on people’s issues. PM Narendra Modi and BJP leaders are not talking about unemployment, inflation, farmers, women.

Where will voting take place under the first phase of general elections?

Under the first phase of General Elections 2024, voting will be held on April 19, 2024 on a total of 102 seats in 21 places including states and union territories. During this period, polling will be held for two seats in Arunachal, five in Assam, four in Bihar, one in Chhattisgarh, six in Madhya Pradesh, five in Maharashtra, two in Manipur, two in Meghalaya, one in Mizoram, one in Nagaland, 12 in Rajasthan, one in Sikkim. Voting will also be held on 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, one in Tripura, eight in UP, five in Uttarakhand, three in West Bengal, one in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, one in Jammu and Kashmir, one in Lakshadweep and one in Puducherry.
