Actor Amitabh Bachchan had left the stage a few minutes before the fire started. “14 Fire engines, 10 Water Tankers, and all Sr. Fire Officers are on site. Fire now totally under control. Program called off” tweeted the Maharastra CM. The fire fighters were able to douse the flames after over an hour.

The ‘Maharashtra Night’ was the flagship event of the Maharashtra government and a number of politicians – including the Chief Minister and the Governor — and Bollywood actors were attending it.
