Dehradun-Delhi volvo bus services resume

Roadways’ Volvo buses, which were closed due to the second wave of corona infection in April, resumed operations on Saturday night after two and a half months. Dehradun-Delhi Volvo bus service was started from Saturday night. Although the normal bus service had started from July 2, but in view of the scorching heat and the demand of passengers, the roadways have now started operating deluxe buses. Two Volvo buses left for Delhi from Doon on the first day. According to Roadways General Manager Deepak Jain, online ticket booking of buses has been started.

Roadways has 120 contracted Volvo and AC buses. Many passengers prefer to travel in these buses. With the commencement of inter-state transport from July 1, ordinary buses were started for Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh. During this time, all the buses going from Uttarakhand to Delhi were going via Yamunanagar-Karnal due to not getting permission to operate the bus in Uttar Pradesh. Four days ago, the Uttar Pradesh government had given permission to operate buses. On which the roadways operated ordinary buses for Delhi ISBT via Roorkee-Meerut. From July 7, buses were started operating from all over the state for major cities of Uttar Pradesh including Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal.

At present around 700 buses are running. In such a situation, Roadways has made preparations to run Volvo and AC buses from Doon to Haldwani including Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Chandigarh and Dharamsala. Under this, two super deluxe Volvo buses were run on the first day on Saturday night. Although passengers were found less in buses, but the roadways management expects an increase in their numbers. Deluxe bus service will be started for Delhi, Gurugram, Haldwani and Jaipur from Sunday i.e. today.
