Uttarakhand weather update: Rain & hail possibility in the state for next few days

There is a possibility of rain and hailstorm in the hilly and plain areas of Uttarakhand for the next four days. The Meteorological Department has also forecast snowfall at higher altitudes in the first week of April. At the same time, the sequence of rain and snowfall continued in most areas of Uttarakhand on Friday.

Bikram Singh, Director of the Meteorological Department, said that the weather patterns will remain changed for the next four days. There is a possibility of snowfall in the higher peaks and rain-hail in the lower areas. Light to moderate rain may also occur over the plains. The temperature may drop due to rain.

Temperature dropped by 11 degrees due to continuous rain in Doon

Rain threw life out of gear in Dehradun on Friday. Due to the rain, the temperature dropped by 11 degrees. The city witnessed rainfall rainfall till Friday evening which significant brought down the temperature.

Damage to crops due to rain and hail

In Uttarakhand, in the last 24 hours, rain and hailstorm have left the state in disarray. On the one hand where there was damage to the crops, on the other hand people were troubled by the water-logging in the cities. There has also reports of power cuts due to line damage in some areas of the state.

Excess rains in March after dry winters

Most areas, including Dehradun, have received more than 100 mm of rainfall in March this year, which is the highest since 2020. Earlier in the year 2020, there was about 150 mm of rainfall in March.

The normal rainfall in the state in March is 55 mm. This time Uttarkashi, Dehradun and Tehri received the maximum rainfall, while Pauri, Chamoli, Pithoragarh received the least rainfall.
