ISSF shooting world cup 2021: India bags 5 medals on Day 4
India won a total of 5 medals including 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze on the fourth day of the ongoing ISSF Shooting World Cup in Delhi. Team India won 2 gold medals in the mixed event and 1 gold in the men’s skeet team event. The men’s skeet team won the gold medal for the first time in the World Cup. India has so far won a total of 13 medals including 6 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze in the tournament. Team India is currently at the top of the tournament.
The pair of Divyansh Singh and Elavenil Valarivan defeated Hungary’s team 16–10 in the final of the 10m air rifle mixed event. This is the second medal of Divyansh in this tournament. Earlier, he won bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Men’s event.
Divyansh Singh said that “I enjoy mixed events a lot. It reduces mental pressure. If you have a bad shot, you have a partner to handle. This is not the case in Individuals. I was nervous when I started this World Cup. Now again I am confident.”
Elavenil said after the victory that “I was in great need of this medal. I had made it my goal to win the medal and I made preparations in the same way. I have now achieved this target. This will boost my confidence.”
The pair of Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhakar won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed event. They both defeated Iran’s team 16–12 in the final. This is the third medal of Saurabh. Prior to this, he has won gold in team event and silver in individual. In the 10m air pistol mixed event, the pair of Abhishek Verma and Yashaswini Deswal won the bronze medal.
Skeet Men’s Team wins Gold, Silver for Women’s team
India’s men skeet team third gold in the Skeet Team event today. They defeated Qatar 6–2 in the final. This is the first gold of the men’s team in this event in the World Cup.
At the same time, India’s Parinaz Dhaliwal, Karthiki Singh Shaktawat and Ganemat Sekhon won the silver medal in the Women’s Skeet Team event. The Indian team was defeated 6-4 by Kazakhstan’s team in the final. The women’s team managed to win a medal for the first time in the World Cup.
