Two unidentified men on Tuesday threw ink at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The two were detained by police. Reacting to the ink attack, Kejriwal took to Twitter wishing the attackers well. “Hmmm… God bless those who threw ink at me. I wish them well,” Kejriwal tweeted. The Delhi chief minister came under a lot of flak recently for his comments on the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on the terrorist launch pads in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. In a video address, Kejriwal saluted Prime Minister Narendra Modi but, at the same time, urged the Centre to expose Pakistan by releasing video footage of the covert strike.
Eyewitnesses said as the Chief Minister was leaving the home of Shankar Sevadas around 10 pm, a man later identified as Dinesh Ojha, accused Mr Kejriwal of being an anti-national on his face and threw ink at him outside.
Police sources said Mr Ojha – a student leader of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, an organization linked to the BJP — has been taken into custody.
In January, a woman belonging to a splinter group of Aam Aadmi Party had thrown ink at the Chief Minister in Delhi’s Chhatrasal stadium. At the time, the Delhi government had accused the Delhi Police of slacking on the Chief Minister’s security.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had even called it a BJP conspiracy, questioning how the woman, instead of being arrested, was giving statements to the media.
