Uttarakhand gets over 1 lakh Covishield doses

The vaccination campaign in Uttarakhand is going to gain momentum once again. On Tuesday, the state has got one lakh fresh doses of Covishield. The state had received 76 thousand doses of Covishield even a day earlier. Apart from this, 61 thousand doses are reaching today. Now the vaccination campaign will continue smoothly for the next few days.

There was a shortage of vaccine in the state for some time now. The biggest problem was with Covishield. In the initial phase of vaccination, most people over the age of 45 were given Covishield as the first dose. Most of these people have completed the 84-day period required for a second dose. As their numbers increased, the health department also had to discontinue the first dose for individuals over the age of 45. Due to lack of vaccine, many vaccination centers in Dehradun, Udhsinghnagar, Haridwar and other districts also had to be closed. Now the campaign is slowly gaining momentum again. State Immunization Officer Dr. Kuldeep Singh Martolia informed that now regular supply of Covishield is being done. Wherever there was a problem, it is now gone.

Crowd gathered at vaccination centers

With the availability of vaccine, now the number of vaccination centers in the district has also increased. Vaccinations have started again in the centers where vaccination was stopped. Vaccination took place on Tuesday after six days at many other centers including Doon Medical College Hospital, Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital. A crowd had gathered here in the morning to get vaccinated. People had stood in queues at the vaccination center since at eight in the morning. In view of the crowd, arrangements for tokens had to be made at many centers including Doon Hospital.

More than 29 thousand got vaccinated

On Tuesday, 29,486 persons were vaccinated at 370 centers in the state. So far 39,37,115 persons have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state. 10,20,087 persons have received both the doses. In the age group of 18-44, 16,56,337 persons have received the first and 40,905 persons have received both the doses.
