Tata motors record stellar numbers in Q2 2021

The automotive industry around the world has been forced to reduce production due to semiconductor chip shortages. Due to non-supply of chips in the country on time, the production of vehicles had to be cut. The automakers were forced to close even the manufacturing plants for a few days. This affected the delivery of cars and the waiting period of cars has increased. But even in the midst of this challenge, the great sales numbers of Tata Motors has surprised everyone. Tata Motors’ global sales for the second quarter i.e. July-September have been excellent. Sales of other cars including the company’s Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) were also good during this period.

The Tata Motors group reported 24 per cent year-on-year growth in its global wholesales, including Jaguar Land Rover, during the second quarter of FY22. On a year-on-year basis, the group’s wholesale sales increased to 251,689 units in the second quarter of FY22. It sold 2,02,873 units in the same quarter last year. Both cars and commercial vehicles have been instrumental in increasing the sales of Tata Motors.

Tata Motors said in a statement that the global wholesale sales of the passenger vehicle segment in July-September stood at 1,62,634 units, a growth of 10 per cent over the same period last year. Tata Motors’ total sales in April-June this year were 2,14,250 units. This is an increase of 17 percent compared to the same period of 2020.

Commercial vehicle sales increased

Similarly, global wholesale sales of all Tata Motors commercial vehicles and Tata Daewoo range stood at 89,055 in July-September, up 57 per cent in FY21 over the same period last year. Tata Motors releases its overall sales figures every quarter. The company has made gains during the last three quarters.

Shares up 20 percent

The car maker’s stellar numbers has had a run off effect on the share price of the company as well. The scrip was trading at 20 percent on 13th October trading at Rs 505 per share at around 1:40 P.M.
