Yogi Adityanath achieves longest uninterrupted tenure record as CM of UP

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s name has been recorded as the longest serving Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He is the first Chief Minister of the state who has been on the post of Chief Minister for 5 consecutive years and 347 days. Before Yogi, Chief Minister Dr. Sampurnanand had been the Chief Minister continuously for five years and 345 days in the Congress rule.

The record of being the chief minister for five consecutive years in the BJP government is also registered in the name of CM Yogi. He is counted among those leaders under whose leadership the government of any party has been formed for the second time in the state. Before him was Narayan Dutt Tiwari, under whose leadership the Congress government was formed again in the state.

On March 25, 2022, when Yogi took oath as Chief Minister, he broke Narayan Dutt Tiwari’s 37-year-old record. Tiwari was sworn in as the Chief Minister for the second time in the year 1985 in undivided Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, after the formation of Uttarakhand, Yogi is the first CM of the state, who has become the CM for the second time in a row. Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has been the CM of UP for five years and four days. BSP supremo Mayawati has been the Chief Minister of UP for four years and 307 days. Former CM  Mulayam Singh Yadav was also the CM of UP for three years and 257 days.
