ISRO to launch 14 satellites on 27 November

India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket will send 14 satellites into space in just 27 minutes at 9.28 am on November 27 from Sriharikota launch pad in Andhra Pradesh. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will place 14 satellites in space along with its PSLV-XL variants. There will be a 1,625 kg Cartosat-3 satellite of India mainly, while 13 nano satellites of America will also be sent in it.

The US will pay for this shared ride to ISRO’s new commercial arm – NewSpace India Limited.

The PSLV rocket will be put into orbit in just 17 minutes for the first time to operate a Cartosat-3 satellite for five years.

According to ISRO, Cartosat-3 is a third generation advanced satellite. It has the capability of high resolution imaging.

The satellite will be able to take photographs for urban planning, development of rural resources and infrastructure, coastal land use and other demands.

A minute after installing the Indian satellite, it will place the first of 13 American Nano satellites in its orbit. 26 minutes and 50 seconds after takeoff of PSLV rocket, it will place the last satellite in its orbit.

According to ISRO, 12 of the American nano satellites are designated as Flock-4P. It is all Earth Observation Satellite. At the same time, the 13th satellite is a communication test bed satellite, named Meshbed.
