4 storey building collapses in Ahmedabad; rescue operations underway

A four-storey building near the Jeevan Jyoti Society collapsed in the Odhav area of ​​Ahmedabad on Sunday evening. According to initial information, the 4-storey building of a government housing scheme suddenly collapsed. Many people are feared to be buried in the debris.

Gujarat Home Minister Pradeep Jadeja said that a team of 5 NDRF personnel have been sent to the spot. The team has left from Gandhinagar to Ahmedabad. Apart from this, municipal corporation, fire brigade and state government are running rescue work with complete machinery.
According to the Additional CFO Rajesh Bhat, there were 32 flats in this building. People living in the  40-year-old were given notice about the crack in the building. The building had been evacuated a day earlier on Saturday. Despite this, some people went back to the building again. The rescue work on the spot continues on the war-footing.

Fire’s team reached the spot as soon as the news of the building collapse reached. Six people buried in the rubble have been taken out safely while others are being resuced.
