Heavy rain forecast for Uttarakhand between Sep 1 and 3

Although the weather will remain normal in the state on Friday, but it may be more severe from Saturday. According to Bikram Singh, director of State Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the region between 1 to 3 September, especially in Dehradun, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar.

In view of weather warning, the government has alerted all the District Magistrates. SDRF and NDRF are kept on alert. In the next twenty four hours, there can be one or two rounds of heavy rain in Doon and Mussoorie. While there is a possibility of heavy rains in Kumaon.

On Thursday morning, there was heavy rain in many parts of the city for one hour from around six in the morning. However, due to the rain relenting after an hour, there is no waterlogging in the city. After this, there was cloud cover in the sky throughout the day and in some areas there was light to moderate rains.
Rains of have wrecked havoc in hills and plains alike this monsoon. A person died after falling into the grip of celestial electricity in Tharali tehsil of Chamoli. With this, the number of people who died in the rainy season in two days has reached ten. Nearly twenty meters of Kedarnath Highway near Gaurikund has been washed away due to landslide. This has stopped the movement of vehicles on the route. On the other hand, the movement has also disrupted pn the Badrinath highway.

Mohan Singh, a resident of Ratangon in Tharali tehsil of Chamoli district, had gone to the forest for cattle grazing. According to the villagers, in the afternoon, lightning struck suddenly and Mohan was badly injured. Before the villagers could take any action he died. In the Bageshwar district of Kumaon, nine houses have been damaged in the rain.
