DD Sports to showcase India’s memorable matches from 2000’s era
Coronavirus has led to a lockdown in India till 14 April. During this period, highlights of some other memorable cricket matches, including India, will be shown daily on DD Sports Channel from 7 April. This decision has been taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Government of India. Meanwhile, cricket fans will also be able to watch VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid’s iconic partnership played in the 2001 Kolkata Test against the Australians. This Test match will be shown on 13 April.

A total of 20 matches will be shown on DD Sports during the lockdown in a span of 8 days. All these matches were played in India. These include 19 ODIs and the memorable Test match played in Kolkata. In this Test, India defeated Australia despite following-on. Laxman and Rahul Dravid stitched together a partnership which stopped the Australian winning juggernaut. The 2000’s era cricket as a whole was mired in match fixing allegations and this match proved to be a boon for the sport to bring back the crowds to the stadium.
Highlights of 3 matches of the India-Australia-New Zealand 2003 Tri-Series will be shown on Tuesday. The second ODI played between India and Australia in the series will be shown first. Team India won by 37 runs in this match. In this match, Laxman scored the highest 102 and Sachin Tendulkar scored 100 runs. However, Australia won the series by 37 runs over Duckworth-Lewis Rules.
