Sensex tumbles over 600 points

The stock market closed today with a heavy fall. The Sensex lost 642.22 points to close at 36,481.09 and the Nifty declined by 185.90 points at 10,817.60. Today, the Sensex was trading at a level of 36500, down by 662 points.

Today, the stock market was under pressure for the second day of trading. Banking, auto, metal and IT stocks were in the red. The rupee has also reached the level of 71.88 against the dollar.

In the Sensex, Hero Moto Corp was down 4.4 per cent, Axis Bank 3.75 per cent, ICICI Bank, SBI, Auto Bajaj, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, Maruti, HDFC and Bharti Airtel were down by 2 to 3 per cent. The shares of Vedanta, Gail, Titan, Asian Paints and Yes Bank saw a slight rise.

The country’s stock market declined in early trade on Tuesday. The major index Sensex started strongly but after a few minutes of trading, it recorded a declining trend. At 9.51 am, the Sensex was seen trading at 36,999.18, slipping 124.13 points. The Sensex lost 46.15 points at 37,169.46 in the morning and the Nifty opened at 11,000.10 with a slight weakness of 3.4 points.

Crude oil prices rose globally, which had an impact on the domestic stock market. Due to this, shares of oil and gas companies fell. Today, the Sensex shed 642.22 points to 36,481.09 and the Nifty lost 185.90 points to close at 10,817.60 or 1.69 percent.

It had lost 704.22 points at one time during trading. The BSE Sensex had lost 262 points on Monday.

The market capitalization of listed companies on the BSE declined by Rs 2,72,593.54 crore to Rs 1,39,70,356.22 crore due to heavy selling.
