Uttarakhand defeats Bihar by 10 wickets in Ranji Trophy debut match
Uttarakhand won a historic victory by defeating Bihar by 10 wickets in their Ranji Trophy debut match. In the second innings, fast bowler Sunny Rana’s fiery spell, restricted Bihar to 169. Team Uttarakhand achieved the target of three runs with the help of a boundary from the bat of Kanveer. With this big victory over Bihar, Uttarakhand got a bonus point too.
The match ended on the second day of the 4 day match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun on Friday. With the win over Bihar, Uttarakhand also took revenge for the defeat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. On the second day, in the first innings, continuing from 201 runs for seven wickets, Uttarakhand batsmen could add only 26 runs. Uttarakhand captain Rajat Bhatia (38) remained unbeaten Samar Kadri and Ashutosh Aman took four wickets in the first innings for Bihar. On the basis of first innings, Uttarakhand got a 167-run lead. Bihar batsmen who failed badly in the first innings could not improve the performance in the second innings. Fast bowler Sunny Rana laid the foundation of Uttarakhand’s victory while giving initial shocks to Bihar. At one stage, the team was struggling with eight wickets for 105 runs, but lower-order batsmen Samar Kadri (36) and AnuNayra Narayan Singh (35) shared a 55-run partnership for the ninth wicket saving an innings defeat for the visitors.
The entire team of Bihar was reduced bundled out for 169 in 50.5 overs in the second innings. Sunny Rana claimed four scalps while Deepak Dhopola took 3 and Dhanraj Sharma got two wickets while bowling superb for Uttarakhand. Chasing the target of three runs for victory, Karanveer got the first ball of the second innings across the boundary rope to give an emphatic win to Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand fast bowler Deepak Dhopola, who was the wrecker in chief in the Bihar first innings took nine wickets in the match and was chosen as the man of the match. With this win Uttarakhand got a bonus issue as well. Which added five points to the team of Uttarakhand.
