Weather changes in Uttarakhand, snowfall and light rain on high mountains

The weather remained dry in Uttarakhand for many days, where bright sunshine was giving immediate relief till yesterday, whereas from today the weather has taken a turn. Along with snowfall on the higher peaks, light drizzle was also received in some places. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature has dropped rapidly in the state. Snowfall has started on the high hills including Gangotri-Yamunotri Dham of Uttarkashi district. It was partly cloudy in the district headquarters and surrounding areas. Due to the snowfall on the mountains, the outbreak of cold may increase in the plains for the next few days. Especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts, there may be severe cold.

After the weather remained normal in the first week of January, now the weather may change once again. According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, there are chances of rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand due to the activation of fresh Western Disturbance. From today, there may be partly to generally cloudy sky in most areas of the state for the next three days. There is a possibility of one to two rounds of rain in the hilly areas. Whereas, there can be snowfall at altitudes above 3000 metres. There may be some respite from fog in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar for the next two days. There is a possibility of partly cloudy sky and light rain in Dehradun for the next three days.
