BSNL services in Nainital down after fire breaks out in office

In Nainital there was a fire at the BSNL headquarters at 1:30 p.m due to short-circuit. This burnt all equipment in the transmission room. Fire fighters arriving in three vehicles managed to control the fire after an hour-long toil.
With the blowing up of equipment, around 45 thousand mobile, broadband and landline connections of BSNL in Nainital have got stalled. The teams have been called from Haldwani and other places to re-install and repair the equipment. One crore rupees worth of equipment was burnt by fire.

The employees saw the smoke rising at around one and a half in the afternoon at the headquarters of BSNL at Mall road. Sirens of the headquarters were also closed during this period.

The employees went to the fire department to report the fire. On this, three teams of fire brigade reached the spot. Fire brigade personnel managed to control fire after an hour’s hardships.

Equipment’s in CTR and two other rooms were destroyed by fire. Apart from this, cable panel was also burnt. Around one crore rupees worth of equipment was destroyed in the fire. Along with around 40 thousand mobile, 3500 landline and 1400 broadband connection, services of about 45 thousand consumers have been stalled.

From calling to internet services also stopped

After the accident, all services of BSNL stalled on Sunday afternoon. For a long time, when the services did not start again, people called each other and asked the reason. Some people called the employees of BSNL, but most employees were not reachable due to BSNL’s connection. In such a situation, why this situation has happened, was discussed throughout the day.

Services will take about one to two days to be restored

BSNL Nainital Board Manager Vinod Bhasin said that enough equipment has been damaged. Attempts are made to repair. Services will be started from Monday if the equipment is repaired. If the new setup was to be set, it could take up to two days. The transmission team has been called by Haldwani.

Work from bank to government and private offices stalled

BSNL services have been completely stalled in all the exchanges connected to Nainital head office. In this way, work in government offices as well as private offices has stalled. Internet services have stalled in all the offices connected with the lease line, including banks, LICs, collectorates. Most of the offices were closed due Sunday, but on Monday all the work connected to the Internet will be stalled. The administrative website NIC will also be affected. BSNL officials, employees tried to find alternative ways till late sunday, but the solution could not be resolved.
