Search on for missing foreign trekkers in Pithoragarh

Seven trekkers from the US, Australia, England and one from India who had set out to conquer 7816 meter high Nanda Devi mountain have been reported missing. District administration informed of the missing climbers and tehsil administration has been instructed to go on the spot. An SDRF team has been sent for search and rescue operations.

Seven climbers from the UK, USA and Australia are in this expedition sponsored by M/s Himalayan Run and Trek Ltd New Delhi . In which Team Leader is England’s Martin McCrain. The party left Munsiyari on May 13. The team had to return Munsiyari on Saturday, June one.

It is being told that the team members are missing since the height of 6000 meters. Whose information has been given to the district administration. As soon as the information was received, the district administration and Munsiyari Tehsil administration became active. District Magistrate Dr. VK Jogdande has issued instructions to Munsiyari Tehsil Administration. SDM Munshayari RC Gautam has sent the revenue team and disaster management team to go to the spot.

Nanddevi East distance from Munasari is around 90 km. The route is snow-covered till now. This route is covered by ice for 6km due to glacier movement. Instructions have been issued to ITBP team too. The Nanda Devi peak is the second highest peak in India.
