Consumers troubled due to bank strike

Barring SBI, other bank employees from across the state were on strike to protest against the major merger of banks. Work in most banks was also affected due to the employees strike. Consumers were also disturbed by this.

Bank employees have been protesting against the merger of banks. For this, there was a nationwide strike today. The impact of the strike has also been seen in Uttarakhand. The Uttaranchal Bank Employees Union protested against the merger of 10 banks into four banks and staged a demonstration in most districts under the banner of Uttaranchal Bank Employees Union. Bankers gathered outside the Central Bank of India at Astley Hall Chowk in Doon and staged a strong protest against the Modi government.

Union leader Jagmohan Mehndiratta said that a large number of bank employees will become unemployed due to the merger of banks. He alleged that the central government is doing this merger with the aim of providing easy loans to the capitalists. Therefore, bank employees will strongly oppose this merger.

Most banks in Rishikesh remained closed on Tuesday. Customers in Rishikesh faced hardship due to the banks strike. District Minister Mayank Sharma of Uttaranchal Bank Employees Union said that the strike was done in protest against the government’s decision to merge 10 banks. With this merger, people will lose jobs in banking sector.

Some banks were open on Tuesday, which were closed by the striking employees. The same State Bank of India opened on Tuesday. There was no impact of the strike here. The ATMs of most banks are also empty due to the strike. Due to which people are facing trouble.

In Haridwar too, bank personnel staged a strong protest against the government outside the OBC Bank located at Ranipur Road. Rajkumar Saxena, District Secretary of Uttarakhand Bank Employees Association said that a nationwide strike has been called by All India Bank Employees Association and Bank Employees Federation of India. In compliance, Haridwar’s bank work was also stalled, including transactions. Here, consumers are also facing problems due to the halt of functioning in banks during the festive season.
