Doppler radar to be installed in Mukteshwar by 2020
Doppler radars will be installed in Mukteshwar and Surkanda by the end of this financial year, ie by March 2020, for accurate weather-related information. Survey is being conducted for the third Doppler radar at Lansdowne. This can prove to be an important step in terms of disaster management in the state. This information was given in the meeting of Disaster Management Authority. During this, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat instructed to train the youth in disaster management in disaster prone areas. He also asked all the departments to assess the financial loss due to heavy rains in this monsoon session and make it available to the disaster management by October 5, so that it can be sent to the Government of India in time.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat held a meeting of the Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday at the Secretariat. During this, he said that local people, especially youth, should be trained for disaster management at regular intervals. Sensitive routes should be made in view of disaster. Earthquake safe building style should be studied. Ensure that the forest areas in sensitive areas are in the correct condition. Forrest Gaurd should also be trained to deal with disaster. Disaster handling training should be imparted in schools too.
It was informed at the meeting that so far 7766 Mahila Mangal Dal and 5968 Youth Mangal Dal have been trained. With the objective of strengthening the meteorological forecasts, 107 automatic weather stations, 28 automated measurements, 16 automated snow measurements and 25 weather observatories have been established in various regions of the state in collaboration with the India Meteorological Department.
80 people died due to disaster
It was told in the meeting that 80 people have died and 80 have been injured in this monsoon session in the state. The loss of 385 small and big animals, 460 partial and 212 buildings incisive and 61 buildings were completely damaged in the disaster. So far, a loss of 228.98 crores has been estimated in this monsoon session. Of this, Rs 125.52 crore is covered by the standards of the State Disaster Relief Fund.
The meeting was informed that the ADB-assisted Uttarakhand Emergency Assistant Project (UEAP) has been awarded the Project of the Year award by the Project Management Institute. Under this project, 1968 km roads, 272 km track routes, 27 helipads, hangars and drinking water schemes of nine cities were constructed.
