Over 1 lakh participate to form 50 km human chain in Dehradun

On the call of PM Modi, a message was given to campaign against plastic by constructing a 50 km human chain in Dehradun under ‘Polythene Free Green Doon Mission’.

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat launched a human series against polythene. Chief Minister, Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama and other public representatives and officials from Miyan Wala Chowk became part of the human chain.dehradun-plastic-awareness

During this, CM Trivendra said that this is a unique campaign. One lakh people have participated in this campaign. PM Modi wants to make the country plastic free. On his call, a campaign has also been started in Uttarakhand.

School children, government officials and party workers also participated in the campaign.The chain went through Miyanwala Chowk, Vivekananda School Jogiwala, Laxmi Narayan Temple Dharampur, Behl Chowk, Goyal Plaza Rajpur Road, Ghantaghar, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Hanuman Temple. At the same time, a message was sent of plastic-free Doon from the Saharanpur road to the Tehsil Chowk, Municipal Corporation office, by making a chain.

Traffic goes haywire

Today, a human chain was formed by the municipal corporation against polythene and single use plastic, which caused traffic woes for the daily commuters. The whole city was left with pockets of jam Municipal Corporation’s attempt to form a 50 kilometer long chain. Police had installed barricading outside the streets. The entire city got stuck in a jam due to wrong traffic plan. Due to the route divert, people wandered from here to there. Many people also clashed with the police during this period. There was also a jam about a kilometer long at Patelnagar Chowk. During this time an ambulance also got stuck in the jam, which somehow got through the traffic.

This morning a human chain was formed by the Municipal Corporation against polythene and single use plastic, which became part of all the main roads of the city. In such a situation, traffic was diverted for safety. However, the corporation and police had claimed that the plan would not cause any inconvenience to the general public and normal traffic would continue to run smoothly, but this did not happen. Entering the Guinness Book of World Records, the city’s traffic was chaotic. During this time people had to face a lot of trouble.
