Bhuvaneshwar Kumar suffering from sports hernia; unsure of comeback

Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been out of action due to injury. The 28 year old Bhuvi is himself unsure about how long will he be out of the team due to his injury. He is suffering from an injury called sports hernia and till now it has not been decided whether he needs surgery to recover from it. He has not blamed the National Cricket Academy for this, but he says why they did not know about the hernia earlier.

Talking about his injury, Bhuvneshwar Kumar said that “there are still nine months left for the T20 World Cup to start but I am not thinking about it. Now first I have to be fit and I do not even know how long will I take to be fit.” Regarding the role of NCA on his injury, he said that “it depends on the board how they take it. They should talk to NCA. Although he said about NCA that they must have done theirĀ  best, but I do not know what went wrong and why they could not find out about it.”

When Bhuvneshwar Kumar asked if the players were afraid of going to NCA, he said that it is a personal wish of any player whether he wants to go there or not. At the same time, about getting rid of his injury, he said that he will first meet the doctor about this problem and then he will be able to know whether he needs surgery or not.

Bhuvi, who has played 21 Tests, 114 ODIs and 43 T20s for India so far, said that “the surgery is still not decided, but in the case of Sports hernia, surgery is usually done, but despite this we have to ask the doctor. Although I do not know what will happen after this, but I am trying to get it fixed as soon as possible”. At the same time, he made it clear that “until I consult the doctor, I will not be able to tell when I will return to cricket. Anyway, it all depends on how long I can be fit”.
