Health department on alert after one woman from Haridwar dies of Swine Flu

Health department is on high alert after a 47-year-old woman died due to Swine Flu in Haridwar. Dr. Sarojd  Naithani, Chief Medical Officer, has issued an alert regarding swine flu in the district. Along with this, instructions have been given to take seriousness in the treatment of patients with symptoms related to swine flu in government and private hospitals.

Signs of swine flu were found in a woman resident of Landaura of Narsan development block of the district. Based on this, the woman was admitted to the Himalayan Hospital Jollygrant by the relatives. CMO Dr. Saroj Naithani said that the woman had been admitted to the Himalayan Hospital for 13 days. She succumbed on February 2 during treatment. The CMO said that according to the report from the state level, the second 42-year-old patient is from Kankhal in Haridwar city.

After recovering from the Himalayan Hospital Jollygrant, the patient has returned home. A health team was also sent to his home. CMO Dr. Naithani said that in the event of admiting of a possible patient coming to the district hospital, they has been asked to be kept in isolation ward. There is also an appeal to the common man to stay away from the patient suffering from infection and wear a mask.

What is swine flu

According to Dr. Sandeep Tandon, Senior Physician of the District Hospital, swine flu is a contagious disease. Which is caused by a specific type of influenza virus (H1N1). Its infection is more during the winter season. It is more likely to happen in young people, young children, pregnant women. In case of swine flu, patients are given tablets of Temi Flu.
