Uttarakhand CM announces relief in electricity bills

In view of the demands and lockdown difficulties of farmers, industries and commercial establishments, several important decisions have been taken on the instructions of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to provide relief to the electricity consumers.

20 thousand farmers to benefit

Delayed payment surcharge is being given to consumers of private tube well category paying bills till 30 June. This will benefit 20 thousand farmers. The financial burden of Rs. Three crore 64 lakh will be borne by the state government.

Benefit to industrial and commercial consumers

The recovery of fixed / demand charge in respect of electricity consumption from industrial and commercial category consumers from March 2020 to May 2020 is being postponed. Late payment surcharge will be exempt from this. This will benefit two lakh 70 thousand consumers. The financial burden of about eight crore rupees will be borne by the state government.

25 lakh consumers to get discount on online payment

All categories of electricity consumers who pay bills online by the due date will be given one percent discount on the current bill amount.

In which HT consumers will be given a maximum of one lakh and LT consumers a maximum discount of Rs. 10 thousand. The expenditure of about two crores per month on this will be borne by UPCL. This will benefit 25 lakh consumers.

Ban on disconnecting electricity connection till June 30 for not paying

In the larger interest of power consumers, the Chief Minister has also instructed not to cut any power connection of any category consumer in the state of non-payment of electricity dues till June 30, 2020.
