Nearly 1/5th of population to be vaccinated in first phase in Uttarakhand

In the first phase of corona vaccination in Uttarakhand, about 20 lakh people will be vaccinated. Preparations for this have been completed. The Health Department has so far identified 93889 health workers from the government and private sector for vaccination. State level, district level and block level task forces have been formed. Preparations are being made for the transportation and storage of the Corona vaccine. Along with this, the work of training of personnels for applying Corona vaccine is also being started soon.

The corona vaccine is expected to be received in the state by June next year. The central government has asked the state to prepare for this. Work for this has also started in the state. On Wednesday, the Health Department made a presentation to the Cabinet regarding this. It was informed that three types of categories are being identified for vaccination in the first phase. This includes health workers, front line workers and patients with critical illnesses.

The health department has vaccinated 28 lakh people under the Measles Rubella campaign. Areas which are of high risk have also been identified in the state. These include settlements, brick kilns, banjaras and hard-to-reach areas. Training will be done at the state, district and block level for vaccination. Booths will be built for the vaccine. Here the effect of the vaccine will also be monitored. Cold chains are being established to store vaccines. There is a demand from the Government of India for the equipment which is lacking. It was also informed that no clear information is yet available about the vaccine. In this case, no claim can be made about this.
