Uttarakhand weather forecast: Orange alert issued for 3 districts

The Meteorological department has forecast heavy rains may occur at many places in the three districts of the state. Also, celestial lightning may fall at some places. In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert.

Mussoorie Dehradun road has been blocked due to heavy landslides near Ghananand Inter College.  According to a bulletin issued by the weather center, heavy to very heavy rains may occur at some places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Chamoli districts today. There may be two to three rounds of strong rain.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of lightning falling in these areas. Meteorological Center Director Bikram Singh said that light to moderate rains may occur in most places of all the districts.

18 rural roads closed in Tehri district

Last night, 18 rural roads were blocked due to heavy rains in New Tehri. Due to this, people have to walk a distance on foot.

Due to rain, Agrakhal-Kusarela, Shivpuri-Timli, Narendranagar-Neer, Saldogi-Kasamoli, Rampur-Shyampur, Rampur-Shyampur-Dansada, Adwani-Odada, Gaja-Tamiyar, Dandachali-Canthu, Badshahthiul-Saundakoti, Gaja-Mankada, -Sarkyada, Chakchanda-Soni, Tegad-Acharikund, Gahad-Palyapatan, Khodadhar-Panakoti, Koti Gusaini-Garkot-Pallethi, Khatwara Band-Ringoli Malli Roads have been closed.

In this regard, Superintendent Engineer NP Singh of PWD said that roads have been closed due to debris and falling of boulder. 24 roads were disrupted, out of which traffic has been started on six. 18 roads are closed. JCB has been installed to clear the debris.

Kalsi-Chakrata motorway closed for 15 hours due to debris

The movement of vehicles remained closed for about 15 hours on the Kalsi-Chakrata motorway, which was closed on Wednesday evening due to debris following heavy rains. Long queues of vehicles laden with cash crops started on the road in the morning. Everyday commuters had to wait for the road to open. During this period, contact with the population of more than 40 villages also remained disconnected.
