UPCL gets central govt nod for solar roof top scheme

The central government has currently approved solar roof top plants upto two megawatts capcity for Uttarakhand to generate electricity on the roofs of houses. The state government has received this letter. However, at present only a few people in the state will get the benefit. This plan was awaited for a long time. Now the central government has approved Uttarakhand to produce up to two MW. The officers of the Energy Corporation received a copy of this order on Saturday. However, most people will not get the benefit of the scheme from the megawatt generation allowed by the Center. UPCL decided to provide 40% subsidy on production up to three kW and 20 percent on three to ten kW output under this scheme. Currently only 600 people will be able to take advantage of it. According to UPCL Managing Director BCK Mishra, the target is to generate 40,000 MW power under Roof Top Phase-II. On the other hand, the government came up with a solar hill policy to set up solar plants on barren lands in the mountainous areas. In the first phase, 208 projects totaling 152 MW were allocated. But not a single project has begun yet. Solar investor Amod Panwar said that the biggest hurdle in setting up the project is bringing the land. People have scattered lands on the mountain. Therefore, it is becoming difficult to get land at one place. Getting people ready for round account land is also difficult.

Government suffers due to corporation’s negligence

Due to the negligence of the officers of the Energy Corporation, this dream project is getting overshadowed.  On 9 November, on the day of state establishment, without any preparation, it was publicized to be launched and on the occasion but the government back tracked on the day of the announcement.
