Government issues ‘No Work, No Pay’ orders for striking employees

The state government has taken a tough stance on strike and boycott by government officials, employees and teachers. Chief Secretary Omprakash issued the order and said that the order of no work no pay should be strictly enforced in all the departments of the state. Employees who will take leave for strike and work boycott will not be eligible for their salary for the period of absence i.e they will be considered as absent. Along with this, their salary for the month of March will also not be released till advance orders.

At present, many employees’ organizations are on the path of agitation. These include ministerial staff, secretariat staff and teachers’ organizations. The ministerial staff has given an ultimatum of the strike since April 5. The government has now started taking strict measures on this.

According to the order issued by Chief Secretary Omprakash, the common people have to face problems due to the employees’ organizations going on strike and boycott’s. Also, the work of public interest schemes run by the government is also affected. Employees’ strike is also prohibited in the State Employee Conduct Rules. Guidelines have been passed from time to time regarding this. Compliance of all these should be ensured. With this, the salary of the personnel who will join the strike by taking leave, will also be deducted and the salary for the month of March will not be given.
