Maths, Physics not mandatory in class XII for engineering courses: AICTE

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has made a big announcement for engineering aspirants. According to this, now students will be able to take admission in B.Tech even without studying Maths and Physics in the 12th class. This arrangement will start from the new academic year (2021-22).

These rules will be applicable from this year

According to the new rule, for admission in B.Tech, students will need at least 45 percent marks in 12th standard. With this, it will be necessary to pass in any 3 subjects out of the list of 14 subjects. These 14 subjects include Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, IT, Biology, Informatics Practice, Biotechnology, Technical Business Subject, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, Entrepreneurship. In any of these subjects, 45 percent of the number will have to be scored. Along with this, students of the Reserve category will have to bring at least 40 marks.

Commerce students will also be able to take admission

AICTE has asked universities that students coming from different backgrounds should be given a bridge course in Maths, Physics, Engineering Drawing. So that they can get the qualification as per the requirement of BE, B.Tech program. Apart from this, those who do a 3-year diploma in engineering will also be able to get lateral entry admission in B.Tech. In such a situation, if the lateral vacancy ends, then admission will be available on the basis of vacant seats in the first year.
