Mumbai city FC crowned ISL 2021 champions

Mumbai City FC on Saturday beat defending champions ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) 2–1 in the final of the seventh season of the Indian Super League (ISL) on Saturday thanks to a goal scored by Bipin Singh in the 90th minute of the match.

David Williams scored in the 18th minute for ATK Mohun Bagan in the final played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, while Mumbai City FC scored the first goal due to a self goal by José Luis Espinosa Arroyo in the 29th minute as a suicide goal. At the same time, Bipin, who scored a hat-trick in the current season, scored the  decisive goal which made his team the ISL champions for the first time in the 90th minute.

With this defeat, ATK Mohun Bagan’s dream of winning the ISL title for the second time in a row was broken. The Mumbai team also defeated ATKMB both times in the league stage.

Everything was going well for ATKMB, but in the 29th minute, Tiri scored a self goal which gave Mumbai a chance to comeback into the match.

Successful Event in Bio Bubble

The seventh season of the ISL began on 20 November 2020 and was held for nearly four months. During this, 115 matches were played between 11 clubs. The entire season was played without any audience in the Bio Secure bubble in Goa.
