UGC announces guidelines for exam and academic session in view of Covid-19 pademic

In the midst of a nationwide lockdown, the government has released guidelines for examinations and academic calendar 2020 in all universities and higher educational institutions in the country. According to the guidelines issued, the new academic session of universities will start this time in September with a delay of two months. At the same time, the final year students of degree programs of UG and PG programs will have exams in July. Whereas, if the situation does not improve, first and second year students will get grades on the basis of 50 per cent marks of pre-semester and 50 per cent marks of internal assessment.

There will be studies six days a week

All institutions will work under the UGC guidelines, but they can also make changes in these guidelines. After the release of the guidelines, universities will soon have to conduct online, offline or paper-pen based examinations based on their academic calendar. With this, the university will have studies for six days instead of five. At the same time, students who will be promoted by giving grades, they can take the semester examination again when the institute opens after the conditions are normal. In the cities or districts where conditions are good, first and second year students will be tested in July.

Six months additional time for PhD, MPhil Scholars

In addition, PhD, MPhil Scholars will be given six months extra time to complete the degree and submit the thesis. Also, Viva will be conducted via Google, Skype, Microsoft technology or video conferencing to submit thesis and for admission. At the same time, 75 percent of the courses can complete face to face classes, but 25 percent will have to be completed by online class sitting on Saturday or Sunday. For this, teachers should be taught to interact with students through various video conferencing channels.
