SC to hear Shiva Sena, Congress and NCP’s plea on new Maharastra Government formation

The case of the new government in Maharashtra has now reached the Supreme Court of the country. Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP have filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding the cancellation of the order of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, in which he invited Devendra Fadnavis to form the government in the state.

In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP also claimed the support of 154 MLAs in the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The three parties requested the Supreme Court that the court should call a special session of the assembly on Sunday and direct the floor test as soon as possible. This will make it clear whether the majority is with Uddhav Thackeray or with Devendra Fadnavis.

In this application, it was demanded that like the court of Karnataka case, all the records including invitation letter from the Governor of Maharashtra to Devendra Fadnavis and the letter of support given to the Governor should be kept before the court. The three parties appealed to the Supreme Court to appoint a Protem Speaker in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and get a floor test done immediately. Also its videography should also be done. The three parties also said that the floor test should be done through division of vote and not by voice.

The petition to the Supreme Court also appealed that Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari be ordered to invite a coalition of NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena to form the government in Maharashtra. Advocates of Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP have also reached the duty registrar’s house to file this petition. It is being told that the petition of Shiv Sena has been approved. Now the Chief Justice will set up a bench to hear the matter.

At the same time, Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde is also out of Delhi. It is being told he has gone to visit Tirupati temple. Apart from this, lawyers cannot directly go to the house of Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde to file the petition. The petition is filed through the Registrar in the Supreme Court. Apart from this, Congress leader and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi is also returning to Delhi from Ahmedabad for the latest developments in Maharashtra.
