CM Dhami gives nod to One district Two products scheme in Uttarakhand

On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a mandate has been issued in Uttarakhand regarding “One District Two Products” scheme. Under this scheme launched by the state government on the basis of the special priority of the Chief Minister, two products will be developed in each district on the basis of new technology through skill development, design development, raw material according to the market demand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the objective behind implementing this scheme is to develop traditional and craft industries in all the 13 districts of Uttarakhand according to the recognition of the local products there. The Chief Minister said that with “One District two Products”, local farmers and craftsmen would get self-employment opportunities on one hand and on the other hand, world-class identity of local produce would be created in every district.

Giving information, Secretary Amit Negi said that Tweed and Bal Mithai sweets in Almora, copper craft products and Mandawa biscuits in Bageshwar, iron craft products and hand made products in Champawat, handloom-handicraft products and aromatic herbal products in Chamoli have been given by the MSME department. One district has been identified under two products. The secretary said that bakery products and mushroom production in Dehradun, jaggery and honey products in Haridwar, Aipan art and candle craft in Nainital, wool products and Munsiyari Rajma in Pithoragarh have been identified under this scheme. Similarly, herbal products and wooden furniture related products in Pauri district, temple artwork, handicrafts and prasad related products in Rudraprayag, natural fiber products and Tehri Nath in Tehri district, Mentha oil and Moonj grass products in Udham Singh Nagar, wool handicraftsand Apple based products have been selected in Uttarkashi under this scheme.
