Uttarakhand to make new guidelines regarding trekking
A new SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) is being prepared for mountaineering and trekking in the state. It will be implemented for trekking soon by the tourism department, in which information related to safety will be given to the trekkers.

In Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council Garhi Cantt, Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj reviewed the Chardham Yatra by holding a meeting with the officers and district magistrates of the department. In the meeting, the Tourism Minister instructed the officials that a new SOP for mountaineering and trekking should be prepared and implemented soon. The process of making SOP is going on for the last four months. He expressed displeasure at this. He inquired from the officials about the damage caused by the disaster in the state.
He inquired in detail about the incident with the team that went on the trek in Chhatikul from the virtually connected DM Uttarkashi in the meeting. He also directed the officials that no such incident should happen in future. The minister instructed the officials that the pilgrims should not face any kind of trouble. All facilities should be made available to them easily.

Secretary Tourism Dilip Jawalkar said that a new SOP is being prepared by the tourism department for trekking and mountaineering. In this, the related information for the trackers will be given in detail. Soon a new guideline will be implemented for trekking and mountaineering in the state, in which guidelines will be set regarding the safety of the trekkers.
