Tata Motors register impressive sales in December

The country’s leading car maker Tata Motors broke all sales records in December 2021. Tata Motors sold a total of 35,299 passenger vehicles in December 2021, registering a growth of 50 per cent. In this way, the company has secured the second position in car sales in December, beating South Korea’s Hyundai. Tata Motors said that the company had sold a total of 23,545 units in the same month a year ago.

Maruti Suzuki India still remains in the first place. The sales of the country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki India declined by four percent to 1,53,149 units in December 2021. At the same time, Tata Motors has been at the second position with 35,299 units. Hyundai, which fell at number three, has sold 32,312 units in December 2021. Tata Motors has sold 3,31,178 units throughout the year.

Unmatched December for Tata

The company achieved its highest ever monthly sales in 10 years in December 2021, highest quarterly sales in October to December 2021 and highest annual sales in 2021. Tata Motors’ total passenger vehicle sales during the third quarter ended December 2021 stood at 99,002 units as against 68,806 units in the same period last year. In this way it increased by 44 percent.

Maruti Suzuki sales down 4%

Maruti Suzuki’s sales declined by 4 percent in December 2021. The company sold 1,60,226 vehicles in December 2020. The company’s sales in the domestic market declined by 13 per cent to 1,30,869 units in December 2021 from 1,50,288 units in the same month a year ago. The company said shortage of electronic components had a marginal impact on vehicle production during December. This shortfall affected the production of vehicles sold in the domestic market.
