A group of scientists in Scotland has done a new experiment regarding the coronavirus. Under this, it can now be detected using X-rays whether the patient has corona or not. Scientists have considered it accurate to 98 percent. The test uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect the presence of the virus inside a person.

Gives results within five to 10 minutes

The researchers also said that it will be faster than the RT-PCR test and the result will come within 5 to 10 minutes. It takes more than an hour to get the RT-PCR report. The researchers said that for a long time there was a need for a quick and reliable tool that could detect COVID-19. Not only this, the Omicron variant will also be detected at the earliest through X-rays.

How does the test work?

According to UWS researchers, the new technique uses X-ray technology to compare scans to a database of more than 3,000 images, which are related to corona patients, healthy individuals and viral pneumonia.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Process

The technology is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) process that uses an algorithm to analyze and diagnose visual assessments. UWS scientists said that during an extensive testing phase, the technology proved to be more than 98 percent accurate.

New testing technique could prove to be life-saving

Professor Ramzan said that many countries are unable to conduct large numbers of COVID tests due to limited diagnostic equipment. But through this research of ours, the virus can be detected quickly. The professor said this could prove important and potentially life-saving when diagnosing severe cases of the virus, helping to determine what treatment might be needed. However, he acknowledged that X-rays do not show COVID-19 symptoms during the early stages of infection, so it cannot completely replace PCR tests.
