BJP high command reaffirms faith in Dhami; to continue as CM of Uttarakhand
The suspense going on in the BJP for the post of Chief Minister for several days ended today. Despite losing the election, the party has once again shown confidence in Pushkar Singh Dhami and has decided to appoint him as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
In the BJP Legislature Board meeting, the name of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami was at the fore. He was elected the leader of the legislature party. With this, Uttarakhand has got the face of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami as the 12th Chief Minister. After the election results on March 10, the BJP managed to touch the magic figure of majority in Uttarakhand, but Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami could not save his seat.
However, despite losing the election, the party high command has once again shown confidence in Pushkar Singh Dhami. They have decided to hand over the command of the hill state to him. Dhami had a disappointing result in the assembly elections. He had to face a crushing defeat from Khatima assembly seat. He was defeated by Bhuvan Kapri of Congress by more than 6000 votes. BJP won in Uttarakhand with a majority. For the first time in the history of the state, it is going to happen that any party will form the government for the second time in a row.
Pushkar Singh Dhami was MLA from Khatima seat of Udham Singh Nagar district in the third and fourth assembly, but this time he lost the seat to Bhuvan Kapri of Congress.
Youngest chief minister of Uttarakhand
This was the first time that a party got an opportunity to form the government for the second time in a row in Uttarakhand. Dhami is the youngest ever Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Dhami became the 11th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on July 4 last year in place of Tirath Singh Rawat.
Sealed in the meeting of the legislature party
Pushkar Singh Dhami’s name was stamped in the legislative party meeting held at BJP state headquarters at 5 pm on Monday. The resolution named after Dhami was passed unanimously. The MLAs and party leaders had started gathering since noon for the meeting of the legislature party at the BJP state headquarters.
