England breaks the record of the highest score in ODI cricket

The England cricket team has made an international record for the highest men’s team score in ODI cricket. In the match played against the Netherlands, the teamĀ  broke their own record of 481 runs. Batting first against Netherlands on Friday, the team scored a mammoth total of 498 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 50 overs. Not one two, but three three-century innings were scored by the England team.

Phil Salt played such a memorable innings in the very first match that laid the foundation for England’s big score. He played an innings of 122 runs off 93 balls, hitting 14 fours and 3 sixes. At the other end, Dawid Malan also completed his century while scoring at a rapid pace. The batter played 109 balls, scoring 125 runs scoring with 9 fours and 3 sixes. After all this came the turn of Jos Butler, whose bat is dealing in sixes and fours these days.

Butler carried forward the opening pair’s blazing start and continued his purple patch from the IPL. Facing just 70 balls, he scored 162 runs. During this innings, a total of 14 sixes and 7 fours were hit from his bat.

The name of the England team was already etched with having the highest ODI score in ODIs. In 2018, the team scored 481 runs for 6 wickets against Australia in Nottingham. Now the team has further improved its own old record by scoring a huge score of 498 for 4 against the Netherlands. England’s team is also at the third place of highest scores. In 2016, the team scored 444 runs for 3 wickets against Pakistan.
