Next Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand likely to be declared by August 1

The decision on who will be the 16th Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand will be done soon. Actually, on July 31, current Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh is retiring and hence discussions are intensified on who will sit at the top post of governance in the state. Sources say that Om Prakash, Additional Chief Secretary of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, is almost certain to sit on this chair, who is in second place in the seniority order.

According to the list of Uttarakhand cadre IAS officers, Anoop Wadhavan of 1985 batch is secretary in the Commerce and Industry Department at the center. Sources claim that Wadhawan does not want to come to Uttarakhand for the time being and will retire in June 2021. S Ramaswamy, of 1986 batch, retired on April 30 this year, while the current Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar is to retire on July 31.

After this, the two IAS officers who are in line are both Additional Chief Secretary in Uttarakhand Government. These include Om Prakash of 1987 batch and Radha Raturi of 1988 batch. In such a situation, now it has to be seen that who sits on the chair of the Chief Secretary.

As per seniority order, IAS Om Prakash is scheduled to be the next Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, being a batch senior from Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi. Omprakash is to retire in May 2022. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat says that there are 4 days left and a decision will be taken on this. He said that there are two Additional Chief Secretaries in the state and on August 1, there will be a new Chief Secretary in the state.
