Government releases Rs 15 crore budget for Science City development works

A budget of Rs.15 crore has been released by the state government to start the construction work of the proposed Science City in the Vigyan Dham complex at Jhajhra. Now the boundary wall and other work is going to start soon.

To complete the work of this plan of 172 crores, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India will provide 60 percent of the budget and 40 percent of budget will be released by the state government. Director General of UCOST, Prof. Durgesh Pant informed that Science City is being established for public widening of science education. This is a big project of UCOST. The plan work will be completed on the ground under the joint aegis of the Central and State Governments. He said that this scheme would prove to be a milestone in bringing the state on the national and international map. He has thanked the state government for releasing the budget.

He said that the proposed Science City would be a place for the state where students would learn about science and scientific curosity would be developed among the general public. Prof. Pant said that after its completion in the next few years, it will become the fifth Science City of India. It will also become a center of attraction for tourists. He has also expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the government for the construction of sub-regional science center in Almora which will be operational soon.
